Outcomes We Can Sell: The JuPedSim Story

We want to tell you a story about JuPedSim, a pedestrian dynamics simulator. It is a story about success, failure and renewal. How JuPedSim grew out of several PhD projects, almost collapsed under its own weight, and was saved by a team that committed to its long-term future and dared to try something different. JuPedSim supported the ideas behind an ERC Synergy Grant as they took shape, and remains part of that science today.[1][2]

JuPedSim: From Obscure Executables to a Publicly Documented Library

JuPedSim is an open-source framework for simulating how pedestrians move through buildings, public spaces, and city environments. For years, it was one of those research tools that “just worked” — if you knew how to use it. The software has been part of the pedestrian dynamics community for over 15 years, supporting research and practice from evacuation planning to urban mobility studies.
